This problem has been plaguing me, for a long time I will admit. I've troubleshooted and tried solution after solution. And my options of being able to fix this short of getting my own private line are becoming quite limited.
First a little information about my set up. I'm using a computer that greatly exceeds all recommended system requirements required by all computer games today. 3.0 ghz dual-core. 2 gigs of pc 6400, Nvidia 9800 knock off graphics card.
I'm currently connected to "Free" internet offered by my apartment complex, behind my own personal router through wireless internet. I'm sure there is an external router, if I can't fix this issue I'll be talking with my apartment administrator for solutions. My ports are DMZ'd for this machine.
I'm using windows XP SP3. With all the latest Direct X drivers, my devices are all up to date, including my network card, graphics card, mobo, you name it.
Let me establish that (Yes) I can connect to the game servers, with an average ping of 60. That all of my other internet functions work with the exception of SOME MMORPGS, Perfect World being one of them apparently.
I randomly get disconnected from the perfect world game server, for no reason. With no distinguishable pattern. It's a disconnect from the game world, not the internet. Most of the time it takes about 20-30 minutes, but lately it's been happening for frequently 5-10, and I'm running out of options fixing this (From a software standpoint).
It's not only perfect world I get disconnected from, it's a few mmorpgs in general. (Cabal online, 2moons online) both confirmed to give me disconnects in the exact same manner perfect world does. However, some mmorpgs like RF online, Anarchy Online, Eve online, work with no problems what so ever.
Now, I've ruled out anti-cheat misfires, because some of these games I disconnect from use different anti-cheat technologies. I've ruled out port issues, (because if a port was blocked, I simply would not be able to connect right?).
Of course all software preventing port blockage is non-existent or disabled at the moment.
Other gaming applications work flawlessly, steam based first person shooters, and other Real time strategy games work just fine.
If anybody here, has ever suffered a similar ailment and has found a solution to solve these problems a reply would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
